This is a massive semi-organized document right now. Do not get overwhelmed. As I have time I will organize this into state by state documents but for now I want to get this information available that people have been sending in. This is a first shot at it. Do a FIND in your browser on your state name and the word Contacts: and then start reading from there down. So, for LA I would do a find on:

If you don’t find your state consider collecting the info together and emailing it to me. Plain text works best. If you want to be listed as the contributor and become a LEGIONeer then say so and give the contact email address you would like me to include here. Together we can make a difference.

I am raising chickens, rabbits, goats and pigs for my private source of food as my fore fathers had done to provide food on the dinner. What we buy at the store is full steroids and other substance to make animals to grow fast. I know, one of my neighbors is a chicken rancher for Tyson. It is my right as a citizen of the United States to raise my own food for my family as I wish just as my fore fathers had done. Plus I have two horses for my children to ride.

Great job! We are also fighting SB350 in N.H. (it is taking my energies), which is new legislation to license kennels and inspect them. At first I was irate! Now, I am praying!

We raise (already) endangered livestock and poultry here in Alabama and WILL NOT be able to comply with this new law system due to religious right. I am becoming a minister and raising my farm and my children GOD’S WAY.
Comment Michael Britton/God's Way Farms — February 26, 2006 @ 12:22 am
Not having read all the comments, I’m not sure how many others feel this way, but if this thing gets passed, which I have no doubt, with all the other sneaky things being slid through congress on riders, may very well happen, what is the governing body going to do if no one with private horses and farm animals complies?
No way in hell am I going to comply. I’m willing to go to jail over it if need be. This is going too far, much too far, and I have had it with big agri business running, and ruining, our lives. Where do you think this brillant idea came from? I don’t even need to be told, I can guess.
People have gotten fed up with all the chemicals in our food, and the movement to grow/raise your own food, or buy organic or chemical free food, must be cutting into the big agri biz’s bottom line. And while they are at it, they can make money off all the millions of equines in this country, horse people all have money, right?
I implore all of you, do not comply with this legislation! What are they going to do? Fine and arrest over a million people?
Comment Julia White — March 14, 2006 @ 11:08 pm
Unfortunately, they will not have to arrest everyone who is not in compliance. The government can easily change all the rules in order to allow ’selective enforcement,’ which essentially operates like a lottery. You may be faced with $1000/day/’incident’ fines, your animals may be seized and slaughtered, and you may go to jail while nothing happens to your neighbor, who is also ‘guilty’ of non-compliance. Never, ever underestimate the number of ways this government demonstrates its fondness for increasing profits for the multi-national corporations and demonstrates its disregard for, even utter contempt of, the little guy. (That would be you and me, friend.)

Ron Sparks Believes He’s On A Mission From God
April 7, 2006
Alabama Agriculture Commissioner, Ron Sparks, believes his program to implement a universal animal identification system has Biblical backing.
In the wake of a reported case of Mad Cow disease in the state, Sparks used the opportunity to push passage of the animal identification bill which had previously stalled in the legislature.
The law will ultimately be used to require virtually all animals be injected with an radio frequency identification device (RFID) microchip. Once under the skin, each and every animal will be logged into a universal database containing the unique identification number assigned to each animal. The animal owner will also be required to have their land numbered and indexed in a universal database with which their animals will be associated.
Many Christians see this universal identification scheme, taken together with recent new requirements for universal identification for humans, as a precursor to the Mark of the Beast system foretold in the Book of Revelation. When this objection was raised, Sparks made light of the inference and equated his program with that of Adam naming the animals in the Book of Genesis.
It appears Ron Sparks believes he’s on a mission from God, and that he has likewise convinced the majority of the Alabama Legislature they too can be like god.

I find that this is a sad day in the United States of America that something like this is trying to happen!! I think that that America needs to UNITE and fight this! If our government can find a way to shove this idea through then what is next, will our infants have to be implanted with a micro chip as well? This is pathetic! What does this prove???

I am totally anti NAIS all the way! I feel that my rights are being taken away and that we are not a free country any more! It is not only against my religion to have chips in my animals or myself or anything for that matter, and I am not happy about having it be mandatory! I will take any fines they give me, and be thrown into jail, but they will NOT touch my animals, or me!

I am a 22 yr-old single college student. Many people my age don’t know about the NAIS.I believe the young people need to know about this, because they have a powerful impact on the future. But I am very concerned that I and my peers are the last generation of what we call free americans, because they either don’t know what liberates a people, or they don’t care. Folks, we need to wake up.My dreams of a future for myself and the family I always hoped to have are swiftly disappearing. But now I believe the first of our priorities should be knowing the “signs of the times”, and knowing the basis of our
freedom. KNOW THIS: IF your heart is not with the Lord of Liberty, your fight for liberty is in vain.

I think you are all out of line here. The government is just trying to do its best to protect us all. Who cares if we have to give up some privacy and basic rights to get protection from terrorists and food borne diseases. I don’t really give a s**t if you farmers are going to be hurt by NAIS or any other program. What matters is that we consumers are not being endangered by your reckless keeping of dangerous animals. Get a real job. You shouldnt be keeping animals outdoors where they can get infected with diseases anyways. Factory farms are the wave of the future and much safer.

There are no Statutes in this state which call for the tagging of an animal NOT for breeding or dairy. As for food safety (#19 - whether fake or real ??) Comment Tomas — August 1, 2006 @ 10:35 am
Just got back from a small family reunion and not one person knew about NAIS! My siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews are all animal lovers (adopting strays and injured animals), many of them voting age and will be contacting their representatives (if, indeed, we can still call them that).
I must say; when I spoke of this to them, they were incredulous. None of them had ever heard of this and I was very glad I had some printouts of NoNAIS and USDA pages at the ready. Just wanted to let you know that folks in Portland, Oregon are with you, trying to help preserve our rights and freedoms. I am SO grateful to all of you, working so hard to energize and inform!
Thank you.

WHERE ARE THE WASHINGTON STATE PEOPLE!?!!?
I need a little help here, folks…..could not believe the level of ignorance about NAIS at the local fairs I got to this year; not the kids in the barns, not the guys sitting the Extension Agency tables. A Seattle PI reporter wrote an article http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/health/287481_birdflu04.html and that night the anchor of a local news station stated that with 500 undocumented chickens in Seattle backyards, Washington is now requiring registration of birds. The news station wank said that the statement was made based off of the above linked article….and that it had nothing to do with NAIS. The reporter from the PI, tho, was very open to the info I gave him (you BET I sent him to this website!!!), so maybe some truth will get out there yet. BUT—of course, he wants local folks to step up to quote and I don’t have any handy, heavy hitting names. Aren’t there Washington State specific orgs against NAIS???? Who are they?
Comment Philip Bradford — October 5, 2006 @ 8:35 pm
Hello Phil,
Celeste is Washington State.
Her data that she is and has been collecting is posted at
http://nationalpropertyowners.org/
She is a poster on this board also.
What exactly were you looking for?
Maybe I can point it out since I uploaded the data she has.
Comment Breederville — October 6, 2006 @ 8:14 am
Philip–
There are many of us in WA fighting NAIS tooth and nail. We were at the fairs passing flyers, speaking to people, getting the word out that it is a bad thing. We heard our representatives lie about the program and rebutted them. Some of us spoke out in public forums and on the radio. So we are here, using nonais as a central hub.
I went to the vet’s yesterday and they had never heard of NAIS–hmm, seems they should have by now as they are a mixed animal practice and it will affect them dramatically in a short time. But no. I left several flyers–printed off of this site (thanks Walter!)–for them to read and pass out.
The best thign you can do is keep on top of nonais.org and hit the pavement running by trying to tell 10 people a day about NAIS and how it will alter their life in ways we don’t want to think about.
Look back through past posts here and you will see notices pertaining to WA state meetings on NAIS, etc. And thanks for posting this article’s link–I hadn’t seen it and I will write a few letters about its inanity.
Keep in touch, if you want to be part of the WA movement the time will come when it will be all hands on deck. . . .
Comment Podchef — October 6, 2006 @ 8:14 am
Hi, guys! Thanks so much for your responses….. I don’t know how we could have missed you at the fairs; we were specifically looking. We got to King county, Thurston county, Pierce county, and The Puyallup…talked to FFA kids, asked at Extension Service tables…got a lot of blank stares.
Our two interconnected brains are looking for a place to hook up and get something done with this. We are feeling like time is really a factor here, and we know we are coming late to the field, so particularly don’t want cover old ground. Seemed like we should get ahold of the Grange …whoops, the National Grange Association supports NAIS. (HUH???)
Is there anybody out there that we could go have coffee with? Some, I don’t know, organization where we could go to a meeting, something? One of us has more time than the other, one of us has more networking than the other….we’ll make phone calls, fold flyers, paper bulletin boards, whatever. We really feel like we need to DO SOMETHING!!!

MUSKATINE, IA–Blogger “Stinky”, who attended the Iowa rally of Presidential candidate Ron Paul over the weekend, reported that Rep. Paul addressed the issue of earmarks in his speech.
“Paul said he supports earmarks for identifying cattle and hogs, but doesn’t approve them for humans,” Stinky wrote in his campaign-blog website. “Unfortunately, my video camera ran out of juice or I would have posted it to YouTube,” he added.
Promoters of the National ID system, including most of Paul’s opponents, quickly clarified that they do not propose to notch people’s ears, but would instead use either tracking bracelets or implantable RFID chips tied to a national database. The system would use the first human-implantable passive RFID microchip, the PrisonChip(TM), cleared for medical use in September 2004 by the United States Food and Drug Administration. The program would begin with infant ID, prisoner ID, and immigrant ID and would later be expanded to cover the general population.
While Paul has supported registration of livestock earmarks and brands by state brand inspectors in his home state of Texas, he strongly opposes a national animal ID program, particularly one using RFID chips, as currently under review by the US Department of Agriculture. States could do as they please, he said, because the federal government should not dictate to the states.
Paul opposes development of such federally administered systems for animals, as they may lead to use in humans: “What happens when the government puts in place a system of tracking the movements of every livestock animal in the US? The technologies developed for this can be easily used to trace citizens, to invade our right to privacy-and the current neo-con government has started in this direction, and I’ve opposed that in Congress. This is not a legitimate role of government. We do not need a national ID card, and we do not need a national animal ID program,” he said to loud applause from supporters, many of them local farmers.
“Using earmarks to identify livestock has a long tradition in our country, along with hot-branding. Recently, we, as a party and as a country, have gotten away from the traditions of our forefathers. We’ve gone to new technologies like freeze-branding, tattoos and IC chips. I think we should go back to the original intent of the writers of the Texas Brand Book. We can find a lot of wisdom there if we would only heed it,” he said.
The congressman’s frank replies are expected to put to rest the controversy over whether he does or does not support earmarks.
This is from Rep.Ron Paul that is running for Pres.
