  1. For every Vermont resident who is aware of the impact NAIS could have on their lives, now is an opportunity to take action. Please call every single member of the agriculture committee and ask him or her to educate themselves on NAIS. Request that each read the “Draft Strategic Plan” and “Draft Program Standards” so they can decide for themselves the impact this program might have on our chosen way of life, our local and state economies, and our constitutional freedoms. Ask them to seriously and thoroughly consider if this USDA proposal is an appropriate response to concerns about food safety. Ask each member to take the time to listen to all interested parties - producers, small farmers, homesteaders, individuals and consumers before forming any opinion on this critically important issue. The meeting is Friday. Get those e-mails out and phone calls made early this week!

  2. I am writing all of my elected officials. I live in vermont and I do not want to see this sort of thing happen nais is bad bad bad. It will kill our local farms. Without farms we will loose out on tourism. Our state is already dependent on the out of state dollars to flow in. We have no industry. We need to encurage what few farms we have left. We need to make it a nice place to grow up and stay because our young people are leaving and nais is just going to make it harder to stick around so people will leave for the big cities.

  4. I just got confirmation that my letter AGAINST N.A.I.S. and the fact that, I REFUSE TO COMPLY WITH N.A.I.S. in IOWA, was HAND DELIEVERD to Sen. CHARLES GRASSLEY, IOWA.. Now we will see if he cares about protecting his VOTER’s in IOWA from the N.A.I.S. or protect Big Corporate Business with the U.S.D.A. in bed with Corporate thru these regulations….. Please contact the IOWA Senate and Congressmen… Let’s STOP this Theft of Our FREEDOM….If YOU complete the USDA registration forms, you have then, just signed away your FUTURE and FREEDOM to raise animals without Government Intervention, FIning, and Total Control..Keep your Freedom… REFUSE TO COOPERATE with N.A.I.S. ANd tell them you REFUSE… I DID IN IOWA!!

  6. Comments: Sir: I am very upset and concerned over the U.S.Dept. of Ag. (USDA), forcing the new regulations of the “National Animal Identification System (NAIS) down Our Throats. In order to take away Our Freedoms of the 1st and 4th Amendments to the Constitution, as well as an infringement of Our Religious Rights under the 1st Amendment. I am also fearful of the religious implications regarding the “MARK OF THE BEAST” from the Bible, in forcing satellite RFID tracking chips to be put into our animals if they leave the property. Sir, are you a supporter of this Corporation Backed, unfavorable,USDA regulation,to control and wipe out the individual farm, and/or small farmer,or simply a PET OWNER, of small farm animals, that are NOT just pets, but part of the family living on the farm or acreage?! Pets for only their own use, on a small scale..? Why Horses? They are not in the Food Chain? Are you going to include dogs and cats, are they in the food chain too? How much Control is TOO MUCH Control? This Govt… wants to FREE IRAQ to a democracy, while the same Govt. Enslaves it’s own U.S. Citizens, with regulations that have no TRUE authority to impose $1,000 a day fines for non-compliance?! Sir, if the Government controls the Food Chain, then the Government Controls the People. These regulations are nothing short of when, Nazi Germany requested the Jews to Volunteer their names to wear the star of David, to identify them for their own safety, subsequently they were EXTERMINATED. What makes you think the USDA won’t do the same some day? The USDA is not trying to protect the Good PEOPLE of this NATION and STATE, they are attempting to CONTROL US, in order to OVERPOWER US ATHRU UNLAWFUL INTIMIDAATION ATHRU EXCESSIVE REGULATION, and Unjustified, UNAUTHORIZED, and OUTLANDISH fines, of $1,000 a day for non-compliance!!! Why that is BLACKMAIL!!! This is EVIL at it’s worst..FREE IRAQ the President says, while, the U.S.Govt. and the States within her borders implement these EVIL regulations??!! God help us all, for we are in the Times of this Country’s Most Desperate Hour… Sir, I am begging you, Please INTERVENE and STOP this INJUSTICE to the GOOD PEOPLE of IOWA. I would be in your Debt for this Gesture of Good Faith to God and the Iowa People… Thank you Sir, for listening to me. I would appreciate a written response via U.S. Mail, at DEAN AYERS, 53993 Dill Lane, Glenwood, IA 51534-6218. Please Sir, DO NOT DELAY.. Stop this Tragedy occurring within Our State Borders before it is too late. Sir, If you have a Country of Corporations, without FREEDOM of the PEOPLE, exactly WHO is going to BE LEFT to LIVE their LIVES? Slaves DO NOT produce quality nor quantity! Nor HAPPINESS! BUT FREEDOM PROSPERS!!!!!!! GOD BLESS YOU SIR. Thank you for listening. Sincerely, and Most Deeply Concerned, about this Good State of Iowa, DEAN A. AYERS

  7. REPEAT your DOSES of NoNAIS, over & over….Just Like Medication, simply taking 1 dose of medicine(Writing Letters) won’t cure the DISEASE(USDA)…You have to Rid the Disease with Constant & Frequent ASSERTIVE Actions.. Like Medications , “WE the PEOPLE”, need to USE Communication’s SKILLS, with constant and continued Contact with ALL Officials and PEOPLE Effected until the Official’s in Power( elected or otherwise), CAN NO LONGER IGNORE OUR Crys FOR Justice in the Serious Matter…NO MORE NAIS….NoNais.org……..
    Thankyou!

  8. I’ve just emailed my comments to the VT Sen. Ag Comm. Chair & members. This is appalling: to date, not a person we’ve talked to about NAIS knows anything about it! Please, get the word out to your family, friends, and neighbors. Talk to everyone you see, hand out flyers - Walter has excellent material available on his website - & Staples is now having a 39 cent per color copy, so you can print several for a little $$$. Don’t assume that because you know what’s going on that everyone else does. They don’t!

    Comment Elaide Gahn — April 17, 2006 @ 8:36 am

  9. I can’t believe that we are being stripped of our freedom and most Americans don’t even know. I would never have believed I would have to report where and when I travel on my horse. My grandsons won’t even be able to ride to my house for cookies without reporting to the government. We must stop this atrocity.

    Comment Margarette Dye — April 20, 2006 @ 6:43 am

  10. The part of the atrocity that we don’t hear much about is the total gov’t control to come onto your property 24/7 and inspect whatever they want to, take your animals, whether or not they are ill, and you have no recourse. This isn’t just tracking animals, this is losing all property rights, very similar to eminent domain laws. The only difference is that when they take your personal property be it chickens, goats, horses, whatever, they destroy it. AND you must pay them for this dubious honor and offer all your constitutional rights up on a silver platter. If one more person says to me that we all have to register our dogs, I think I’ll hurl! NOT THE SAME! I don’t register my dogs where I live, but if I did, by doing so, I am not signing on to have gov’t agents roam my property and destroy my dog for no reason if they want to do so! You are giving up all your privacy and property rights, people! Listen up!

  11. The vermont department of ag can kiss my ass.
He’ll probably kick them in the teeth.
Serves them right. They should leave us alone.

    Comment Gwen — August 8, 2006 @ 6:51 pm

  12. Tis sort of thing is going on badly her in Europe. You think your rights are going. We are like we never had any. Very bad. Fight it.

    Comment Rex — January 19, 2007 @ 2:14 pm

  13. Hi - i’m a lobbyist in VT - your list of contacts for Senate and House Ag Committees is out of date - go to this site for the current members for 2007 and 2008 and for their contact information.
