"In addition to “helping” us to make “proper” food choices, the hospital I work at just instituted a new policy that they will not hire anyone who tests positive for nicotine on a pre-employment drug test. They say that as a health care provider, they want to “lead the way”, and it is to save on the high cost of insurance.
I see this as another slippery slope towards behavior control instigated with Obamacare."

Comment Barbara

Yes I really love how we are "free" but must submit to intrusive searches of our body to earn a living. GRRRrrrr

I wonder if part of the reason for the attack on farmers (regulations) was because that is the last occupation where a person was truly "free" All the rest of the occupations including babysitting and house cleaning are now regulated thru the government, IRS or the insurance industry to the point an ordinary person can not easily go into business for themselves. It gives the word "wage-slave" an entirely new meaning.

I am sure that one of the future requirements of Obamacare will be subcutaneous "smart" RFID tags that broad cast all sorts of information about you.

I forgot to add this to comment 28

The campaign to tell people what they can eat is heating up, not only are corporations getting into the act at work thanks to promotions such as HR Daily Advisor: Wellness Programs

but now along with "nutrition facts" on the packaging of food I am finding "sensible portion" information from a new group at www.sensibleportions.com

Maybe I am getting paranoid but along with the "health care" law this could put the government in charge of my body down the road.

Rationing of food was a way of life here in the USA at one time. My husband and brother are both old enough to remember it. There have certainly been signs that we are heading into another time of PLANNED food scarcity.

"In summary, we have record low grain inventories globally as we move into a new crop year. We have demand growing strongly. Which means that going forward even small crop failures are going to drive grain prices to record levels. As an investor, we continue to find these long term trends..very attractive.”

Food shortfalls predicted: 2008

This is off topic, well sort of. This particular comment stood out among some other great comments at wattsupwiththat: Earth Hour in North Korea a stunning success

The Nighttime satellite photo of North and South Korea shows North Korea is completely without lights - as usual...

Comment by davidmhoffer:

"North Korea is a fine example of what happens when those who wrap themselves in a cloak of morality gaze upon the huddled masses and determine that those who disagree with them are defective by way of intelligence or upbringing, and so must be neutralized and controlled by the state for the benefit of the greater whole.

I hope Ravetz and Lakoff et al are paying attention.

My heart goes out to the people of North Korea whose defectors number one reason for escaping the country is hunger."

THIS is what is planned for the whole world by those who are presently trying to institute a "new World Order"

They're Back:

Winners, losers emerge in Obama's budget

"The president is also requesting $14 million for a state-administered livestock traceability system. The project had formerly been known as the National Animal Identification System, but the USDA announced in early February that it was scrapping plans for a national scheme and moving toward a state-run program (see JAVMA, March 15, 2010, page 600)."

Hm. Where have we heard that financial figure before? Sounds a lot like the $14.6 million proposed last year.

Be aware.

Today at lewrockwell.com is an article by Michael Boldin on "The 10th Amendment Movement" ....It outlines all the issues the states are taking up for "nullification" of federal laws...such as the healthcare bill, guns rights, cap and trade,...many listed, including Interstate Commerce...(remember that USDA is now going to concentrate on that area in regards to animal ID...)...This site: tenthamendmentcenter.com will keep you up to date on what all the states are doing in their legislatures on these various issues. Also, today at newswithviews.com I suggest you read constitutional attorney Jonathan Emord's article: "The best and worse job in town"...once again, this "money thing" is the #1 issue...
