Another animal ID poll on TheHorse.com. About halfway down the page on the left. We need more people to respond to “Should some form of permanent identification be required for every horse in the United States?”

So what, EXACTLY, is the Government going to do with all the horses in the US??
If they have no NEED to know where they are, then they have no NEED to know if they even exist…

CODE??? HUH???

I think identification of my animals is just common sense, however, I don’t think it should be mandatory for many reasons. As Americans, we all have a right to our opinions, but we should not be subjected to the opinions of others. See the 1st. Amendment.

Some years ago, I believe it was the USDA who did a census on how many horses each owner had and other information they insisted on knowing. They said is was for our benefit…well I did fill it out and returned it but now I see that it was a manuver to gather information for the NAIS. I am totally against identifying my animals with some sort of code number or chip under their skin whether it be a horse or my grandma’s chicken. They are not part of a Federal Herd, I am not a big time producer and I am certainly against having a chip under their skin so that I can buy or sell…..I have Religious reasons as well as fundamental freedom reasons why I am against NAIS or any other form of it….The USDA has it’s agenda and they will try to get to it fully even if they have to do it one bite at a time….for now they say we can design our own program. You can bet They will tie the states to money to get them to do their bidding, amendment after amendment will be added later as they try to lull us to sleep, feeling more comfortable with it until their full agenda is accomplished. I say no to NAIS in any form whatsoever, not now not ever. Letting us design our own gallows is a trap that they get to pull the rope on….they can use whatever excuse they like for implementing it but it is a power grab of the worst kind ! ! ! !

They don’t need to know where every horse is in the USA..unless there would be some sort of natural disaster, or a reason to confiscate livestock in the event of some sort of monumental natural disaster or political unrest. Of course you could go to the Nazi German model prior to WWII when they made a point of cataloging where all the farms and livestock were kept before they went in to confiscate them and send their owners off to “camp”.. That may sound a bit paranoid, but hey, we have millions of people out of work, a population that is starting to get restless (that guy who ran the plane into the IRS building in Austin TX might be classified as such.. [letter. No comments here. -WJ])The government is just looking for any old reason to crack down and if they wind up with a few million more people unemployed and homeless over the next year or so, they might just have a real “situation” on their hands. The next round of ARM (adjustable rate mortgagess) are about to re-adjust. Here in the Midwest the FDIC just opened up a huge new office in Chicago with several hundred employees to handle what may be the coming mortgage defaults and resultant failure of small banks. The Midwest is largely agriculture based and knowing where all assets are would fall in line with the government wanting its pound of flesh.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!
NOT..HORSES,CHICKENS,COWS,PIGS OR ANYTHING ELSE! The federal government needs to get out of taxpayer citizens business. I wonder if the founding fathers of this nation are turning over in their graves? Didn’t the king want to know everyone’s business, and determine who the colonists could buy and sell from? We need to remove those kingly representatives in our government and replace them with God fearing men and women that truly understand what the Constitution really is!

First i would like to know what has happened to the publics backbone? Are we not willing to stand up for our rights anymore? Are we going to let the government rule every single thing we do?
Are you kidding me?
They already want to scare us into spaying or neutering every single canine and feline, now they want to know about our horses? How about our chickens and birds and fish? Want to know how many of those i have too? Do you also want to know how many ants, mice and bees i’ve had enter my home this past summer? How about flies and mosquitoes? Are you kidding me?
Look, people should be allowed to privately own any domestic animal they want on their own property, especially in rural areas, let the government keep their noses to the grind stone by bettering the economy, getting us health care, and keeping us safe from terrorists, everything else should be up to the discretion of the public. This is all getting out of hand, just like the government putting out a kill order for wolves….Are you kidding me?

I agree, NO RECORDING OF ANY KIND. People have spoken and we do not want NAIS in any form under any cute name. They call themselves “stakesholder” which means what you have is theres. STAND FIRM….NO ID, NO TRACKING, NO NOTHING. We have ways of tracking back from shows, trail rides and such if a horse gets sick without the government having us in a take-over data base. Keep this corrupt government out of your life and away from you animals. Just what do you think they have in mind for them……to kill them all.

Denise Kaster,
In some states like Michigan the USDA has already done a census on folks property. And yes, they wanted to know everything, if you had a pond and what kind of fish you raised, every kind of animal you can think of was listed. They also wanted to know if you had seed and if you had a green house, wanted to know how many lanugages you spoke and if anyone else lived there who they were and all the questions pertained to them as well. It was very much intrusive. Someone reminded me that the Nazi’s did a census just before they came in and took all the animals and food from the people. With the way the Government is going it is chilling, they want to know everything about us. Their is one census the Constitution allows for and that is only every 10 years and then it is only to ask how many people live in the home……If this animal identification is allowed, if we fall prey to their tactics we will be sorry because the Government is never satisfied, they always will want more. I will sell my horse before I bend to this …..I regret to have to do it but I will….but if it happens hide your kids because they will be the next ot be chipped…for security, safety reason of course….
God help Us ! ! !

“First i would like to know what has happened to the publics backbone”
These days, it seems the only ones to get anything done for their cause are those on the fringe, i.e, pornographers, gay marriage/sex-change types. If you have a legit cause, like us, you are looked at like something is wrong with you. I read the letter of that poor man that crashed his plane, he was at the end of his rope against a long line of stone-cold bureaucracy.
But on the postive side… the tea party people are getting notice, even though the govt might label them as anarchists or traitors. And our efforts at least got the USDA to notice and respond to our not wanting NAIS and of course we see through their lies saying it is dead. I imagine a political cartoon showing a huge monster buried in a shallow grave with oxygen and life support and the USDA is standing by the grave with a shovel and backhoe telling us “see, we killed NAIS, will you go away now” with an aside to the backhoe operator “quick, be ready to dig it up just as soon as they leave!”

Where did you find the ID poll? The last time I copied the results were on 2/22, and then they changed to a different poll with a different topic.
