Issues I commented on:
NAIS - mandatory vs voluntary, cost, privacy.
On-Farm Slaughter should be allowed for local sales.
USDA should serve us all, not just corporations.
Subsidies for Big Ag should be reduced or eliminated.

There will be an informational meeting held in South Wayne, WI. (LaFayette County) at 1 pm on January 7th, 2007 at the South Wayne firestation in South Wayne. We will be discussing the ramifications of NAIS and WI Premise ID on the average farmer as well as the hobby farmer, 4H/FFA and related businesses.
The WI state coordinator from the Liberty Ark Coalition will be in attendance as well.

I hate to even say this but is this the sort of excuse that our government will give for human premises ID, human RFID tagging and human movement tracking?

The USDA is pushing NAIS as a way to contain animal disease. Will the government push NPIS (National People Identification System a.k.a. REAL ID) by using the excuse of human disease outbreaks and pandemics? Their current push for REAL ID is based on anti-terrorism but remember the original push for NAIS was export markets. The excuse for micromanaging our lives blows with the wind.
